Global Challenges Partners

The Global Engagement Scholars are part of AASCU’s Civic Engagement in Action Series, an initiative aimed at creating ideas and materials for campuses to use in promoting civic engagement.  The Global Engagement Scholars are the only internationally focused initiative in this series.

The Global Challenges Project is one of AASCU’s first Red Balloon Projects, an initiative aimed at reimagining and redesigning education for the 21st century.  The Red Balloon Projects are an effort to respond to three critical challenges facing higher education in the 21st-century; the need to better engage students, to make more effective use of advances in technology, and to more efficiently allocate increasingly scarce resources.

The course uses the Center of Strategic and International Studies' (CSIS) Seven Revolutions framework. The course also includes bundled access to a The New York Times digital subscription which provides vast resources through The Times's innovative approaches to video, multimedia and interactive story telling.
